Business Etiquette Test: Are You a Goofus or a Gallant?
As longtime readers of Highlights know, it's better to be a Gallant than a Goofus. Gallant would hold the door for a woman carrying packages. Goofus would watch her drop the bags and laugh. The extreme difference between the two made it easy to learn right from wrong.
Then, we went to work and the rules got complicated. While making introductions, lunching with clients and going to cocktail parties, you may think you're Gallant dazzling the office with marvelous manners, but there's always the possibility that you are poor, ignorant Goofus, getting under everyone's skin.
