At some point in any of our relationships -- with our significant others, friends, in-laws, parents -- we've all wished we had a little more control of a situation. The problems come along when we never have control -- or demand it in all instances, at all costs. Some people seem to have a knack for forging great relationships, balancing their wants and desires with those of their friends and lovers. Others wait for Mr. Anyone, let his wishes dictate their lives and merely complain to anybody who will listen. Of course, it's also possible to go too far asserting yourself, effectively shoving the people you care about out the door.
